    | | The aluminum header tank in
for a test fit.The tank sits on top of the firewall shelf extending back 12." A
cardboard template was made first. The dimensions and folds were then
transferred to the 5052-H32 aluminum. I took the pieces over to another
builder with a large sheet metal brake and bent the 4 pieces you see here.
The tricky part was getting the top flanges bent , which is curved to
fit the front deck contours. The top is just a 12" wide flat wrap.

    | The sender/vent/overflow plate
is made from a piece of 1/4" 5052 aluminum. A 1.5" hole was
drilled in the bottom of the tank. A sump was fabricated to keep fuel
at the sump while banking. A low fuel warning sender will be placed on
the aft wall to remind me to turn on a fuel transfer pump from the stub
wing tanks. There are two overflow lines to return excess fuel transferred
to the header tank back to the stub tanks if I forget to turn the pump
        off for a while. | |

    | The fuel line will run from
the stub tanks to a fuel filter and check valve before it gets to the
transfer pump. From the transfer pump to the header tank, fuel will then
travel to the gascolator, another Facet pump, then to a fuel pressure
regulator, out to the Edelbrock Carburetor through a AN-6 SS braided hose.
All other connections will be made with 3/8" aluminum fuel line. | |
